The American Academy of Feline Practitioners has created a booklet filled with information on caring for your senior kitty.  I have put the link in the links section, but here is the link, as well.  Right click on it and "Save Link As" to download it.  We also have hard copies available at the office and if you want a hard copy, please stop in to pick one up.  I hope they are useful to you.  I thought it was an excellent resource.

Senior Care Guidelines

I'm delighted to have read the booklet, and I can certainly attest to how the practices addressed in the booklet do contribute nicely to The Golden Years of cathood.  :)  By getting a lower litter box, setting up stairs to all the favorite haunts, adding cushioning to all of the nap places, I can honestly say that my cat seems genuinely happy.  Given that she continues to delight in dive bombing after toys at about two in the morning, using my legs as her camouflage before her major attacks, I'd say that she's finding many reasons to be happy in spite of her seniority and her various challenges.  I know that I find her especially inspirational, even if I am supremely biased.  And kudos to such wonderful vets who still work to increase my baby's healthy longevity.
